The Problem
The hourly rate charged by U.S. law firms has grown to $250-$400 per hour. This prevents families and business owners from getting legal support when they need it most. More problems are posed by the inconvenience of in-person visits to law firms, surprise fees and recurring charges on routine matters as well as limits on the number of consultations.

A Solution
The solution is a subscription business model in which a middle man exists between the law firm and a prospective client. In this model, the middle man pays the law firm the retainer and hourly charges the client could otherwise not afford. Our partner LegalShield is a 20-year company that has built a fund from which legal fees are advanced to its member law firms throughout the U.S. and Canada. Subscribing clients then need only pay a flat monthly fee to access their in-state law firm as needed on an unlimited number of matters. Subscribers can cancel at anytime.
FAQs
- Will the membership cover my specific legal issue?
Personal plans cover most common legal issues for a flat monthly fee. If your need is unique and requires additional legal assistance beyond the standard benefits, your provider firm can help you at a discount rate. Be aware that our provider law firms do not assist with international, military and tribal law. - Does membership cover pre-existing situations?
Most pre-existing situations qualify for consultation and a discount from the provider law firm’s standard hourly rate. Current exceptions include: 1) any civil action, motor vehicle tickets or charges from an event that occurred before your membership, and 2) any IRS inquiry, investigation or notice received before your membership. - How do I choose a lawyer?
LegalShield takes the vetting and selection of its member law firms very seriously, as they average 22 years of experience. This is why members need not choose a lawyer. - What is your service area and are there provider law firms in my area?
Each state as well as some provinces in Canada have a dedicated Legal Shield law firm. You can talk to an in-state firm in any area of law within 24 hours, and you pay only a fixed monthly fee with no bill, retainer or hourly charges. - How do I contact my Provider Law Firm?
Subscribers can directly contact their provider law firm from the LegalShield mobile app. A customer service representative will then collect your information and forward it to the right lawyer.
- What level of contact will I have with a lawyer as a LegalShield member?
It depends. When you contact your in-state member law firm they will have a lawyer call you to assess your needs and then refer you to another specialist on their staff when necessary. - Will I work with the same lawyer each time I need help?
In most cases, you will only interact with the same lawyer if your needs fall within the same area of law.
